Curriculum Information Booklets
The newly drafted curriculum guides for pupils going into S3, S4 or S5&6 have now been uploaded to the following section of the website: Parents Information > Policy Documents. They can be accessed by using the menu buttons along the top of the webpage.

Parents, these are some of the events that have happened since returning in August and each is a learning opportunity for our pupils!
Teaching is much more diverse than standing in front of a class and dispensing knowledge, although we do that as well!
The school community is working hard to come to terms with the changes to the Curriculum and the re-structuring of promoted posts.
With so many experienced staff leaving, a lot of expertise has gone from the school, however, the newly appointed staff are excellent and are already committed to enhancing the positive ethos in the school.
September Science
September’s been a busy month in the Science department, here at St Augustine’s, with various activities having taken place for our pupils.
On the 5th, S3/4 pupils studying Physics visited Herriot Watt University for an interactive lecture, organised by the Institute of Physics, where the physics of sport was explored. Pupils saw how technology from Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect was used to measure the positions of cyclists, allowing the aerodynamics to be explored; how slow-motion cameras were used to study running techniques to show whether or not running shoes delivered an improvement in performance was investigated using Science. The Physics behind the long-jump was also explored, with an analysis undertaken to work out how far Usain Bolt could jump, were he to compete.
Geography Fieldtrip to Lagganlia
On Friday 28th September 16 pupils, accompanied by Mrs Connor and Mr O’Donnell, set off to Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education near Aviemore for a weekend of Geography based outdoor activities. The group were pleased to arrive at their lodges after a journey north involving a bus, two trains and a mini-bus! After getting settled pupils participated in ‘night lines’ before battling it out in a quiz, which was narrowly won by Sean, Rogan, Brendan and Jacob.
